On Being Happy

No longer entitled "On Being Broke," I am now the happiest I have ever been.

I am in the city I love the most and have wanted to get back to for years. I have a job . . . well, I am lucky to have any job at all. However, I have a job that is amazing. Freedom in writing and absolutely no micromanaging. I'm writing for a living. WRITING FOR A LIVING!! IN NEW YORK CITY!!

Every morning, as I exit the subway on 40th and 6th, the Manhattan morning air hits me like a brick of love and I say to myself "holy shit . . . I'm living it."

Living it and loving it. Every minute.

NYC

New York City - the busiest, most populated and loneliest city on the earth.

On being broke

For the first time in my life, I ate a mayonnaise sandwich for a meal.  It wasn't the best, but it was surprisingly better than imagined.

1st day in the new apt.

Today was the first full day at the new apartment.  After sleeping on a couch for 29 days, I finally have a bed.  Well, a makeshift bed.  It's a futon mattress on the floor - aka a Thai prison bed.  The place is huge and great, but sometimes my room smells like Asian food, though there is only the fried chicken place and Lenny's Pizza nearby.  Odd.

Today has been an unfortunate waste of a day.  Tomorrow I will venture to Prospect Park and possibly catch a bit of the NYC marathon.  I have much more important things to do, but they're not as fun.

I need a job.

Goodbye . . . the word

Bye's are never good, so I'm not sure why they call goodbye's goodbye.

Goodbye to Ryan

I said goodbye to Ryan tonight.  For those of you who don't know Ryan - he's Sari's blonde bombshell of a boyfriend.  I have never met someone with a sense of humor as he has and it saddens me that I will not have that on a constant basis.  He is a talented and optimistic lad - someone you want with you if you're ever stuck in the woods, via plane crash or whatever.

Ryan will be missed.  They will all be missed.
